Welcome back! Thanks for stopping by.
Last week I told you about all the product options to display your favorite portraits, you can find that here: PRODUCT OPTIONS FOR YOU AND YOUR HOME
Today I would like to spotlight the classic framed print.
They are one of my favorite options. They are great for anyone and everyone. There are so many options, making it easy to go with anyone's style.
There are many ways to order framed prints.
One option is ordering from your photographer. Your photographer should have a variety of frames for you to choose from.
Another option is ordering the print and shopping for a frame from your favorite store. You may use this option if you are the DIYer and have used a shoot and burn photographer to get digital images of your portraits.
You can also find places that you can order a framed print from. They will not be the professional quality that you can get from a photographer. But that is the risk you take when handling the printing yourself.
Below is an example of the many options your photographer many show you when you are choosing a frame for your prints.
There are many other options and decisions that go into getting framed prints.
You can choose if your print is mounted or matted.
Mounting is adding a material on the back such as styrene or matboard to make it sturdier. This is very common for high end prints.
Matting is also an option. Matting is adding matboard around your print. You can usually do black or white. Matting your prints can add so much to a framed print. It is also a high-end look. Many of the black frames above have white matting. If you look you will see white in-between the frame and the print. You may even find some photographers sign somewhere in this area.
Last but probably most important is the actual print. There are many options for the type of paper you can use and/or textures available. Some options include fine art, lustre (most common), matte, and glossy paper types with linen, pebble, and embassy texture options.
As you can tell there is a lot to decide on. Of course, I have all these options because I work with a professional printing lab. If you print on your own, you may not have all these options.
I love helping my clients find the perfect framing options for their portraits. It is always fun to see what combinations different people pick. Everyone has their own style, and it is s privilege to help my clients find options that fit theirs.
Tell me below what is your favorite frame? Do you love a nice walnut wood frame? Or are you the classic black frame type?
