Hey there!
Thanks for stopping by my blog.
We have some great photographers here in Terre Haute. There are many different kinds.
Some photographers will sell you prints from the session. A full-service photographer like me will help you find the products that will go well with your style, home, and decor.
You may need that helping hand to pick out the products for your portraits. Some people get too stressed on what products to even consider. There are so many options; there are several options on the type of paper alone. Some don’t know what will look good in the wall space they have or what to get if they don’t have wall space. Or they just don’t have the time to do it themselves.
Another photographer is a shoot and burn photographer; meaning they take your pictures and give you digital files. You choose what you want to do with the files. You can print, share on social media, or most people let them sit on your computer.
Are you the DIYer? You know what you want to do with the portraits and enjoy doing it yourself. Then a gallery of digital files is a great option for you. Just PLEASE DO NOT let the portraits sit on your computer! You went to a photographer for a reason. Show them off!
How do you go about picking out products?
First thing to think about is what wall space do you have? Do you have a lot? Do you have none?
Measure your space. People get excited, they love their portraits, they order a large print or grouping, and realize when they go to hang them, they do not have enough wall space. So don’t forget to measure your space ;)
Once you know how much space you have, you can decide on the size of the wall display. Depending on the space you have available, you can have a large portrait or a grouping of portraits.
There are many different types of products you can choose from. My favorite is a canvas print, although the classic framed print is a close second.
You can also get your portraits on metal, bamboo, and acrylic. Metal and acrylic are fantastic for bright and vibrant colors. There are also a variety of types of papers you can get your prints on these days. Some include fine art, cotton, linen, ect. There is a product for everyone that can be customized to fit your style.
What if you don’t have wall space?
Don’t worry there are still some great options for you.
One option is an album. Albums are great to show off the family and/or children you are so proud of. Unlike a wall portrait displaying just one portrait, an album has several portraits in it. There are so many options for albums these days. From the type of material for the cover to type of paper; you can customize your album specific to your style. Your album can sit on your coffee table or be put safely on a shelf.
Another option if you do not have wall space is a folio box. Folio boxes are just that: a box. The boxes like the albums are customizable. You can pick from several materials and sizes. The folio boxes hold your favorite prints from the session. You have several options for the prints also. From the different types of paper to matted or not, you can customize them to your style also.
When you want to show off your portraits just grab the box and take out the prints. You can also sit your box on your coffee table or a shelf. You may also opt to get an easel to put one of the portraits on to display. This is a great way to show off your favorite portraits and it is easy to switch out when you want to display a different portrait.
As you can tell there are many options, and it can be overwhelming. If you feel that way, a full-service photographer like me, can be very helpful in finding the perfect product for you. There are hundreds of options when it comes to the products you can choose from.
I would love to help you pick the perfect product. I can walk you through the options available and make suggestions based on your style and your home.
Let’s work together! Contact me to discuss your session.
I’m curious, let me know in the comments; what is the wall of your home decorated with? Are you a DIYer when it comes to your portrait products, or do you prefer to have a professional do it for you?
To be honest I am a DIYer but a lot of the time I find myself not getting it done. Things come up and life gets busy. It saves me stress and time to give in and let someone else do what I think I can.
See you next week.
